Rickey Bump is an artist working at the intersection of drawing, sculpture, and installation. The abstract forms synonymous with his work are appropriations of industrialized and perceptually banal materials that are derived from mixed tenets of Minimalism and Abstract Expressionism.

Born outside of Chicago, Illinois, Rickey Bump received a BFA in Drawing at Southern Illinois University (2011) and an MFA in Studio Art from East Tennessee State University (2016). Over the span of his teaching career, Rickey has had the privilege of teaching a variety of age groups, including ESL students from Shanghai, China where he was a visual arts educator before repatriating in 2019. Rickey now resides near Nashville, Tennessee, where he teaches Foundations and Drawing courses at Austin Peay State University and Middle Tennessee State University. In addition to his academic career, Rickey has facilitated creative programs for at-risk youth and individuals affected by disabilities.
